The Woolpack Xmas raffle for Kirkwood Hospice raised £100 over the festive period. We would like to thank all our staff and customers who donated to such a good local cause. The Hospice provides specialist care, free of charge, to adults in Kirklees with advanced, progressive illnesses at and time from diagnosis to the end of life, respecting their individual needs and wishes. Care and support is also provided for their familiy members, friends and carers, both during the illness and after death.

Cask Ales for 2012

Its a new year and time for some new cask ales at the cask marque accrtedited Woolpack. We are currently stocking local favourites, Copper Dragon Best, a refreshing amber coloured Best bitter, with a well-balanced malty and hoppy flavour. And also from Copper Dragon we have Golden Pippen - a light refreshing blonde ale brewed using a specially selected hop to create a citrus fruit flavour. This golden coloured favourite is equally appealing to real ale and lager drinkers alike. And not forgetting our strongest ale, refreshingly reliable, and nationally renowned, Timothy Taylors Landlord.

Sun-03-Jun: Pinstripe Assassins

The Pinstripe Assassins are new band on the local music scene, only starting out in 2012. They play quality live music from top bands including Green Day, The Enemy, Stone Roses, The Jam, Foo Fighters and some self penned tunes.

What a difference a pair of 2's can make! That was the turning point in this months game, Dan and his pocket 2s! Early on Tony (and his run of straights) and Sophie (with her "well I may as well" attitude) had both developed a solid lead, leaving Dan, Ant, Mark and Martin (after a few months out) fighting for the scraps left by Nick and his early departure. So when Dan bravely (stupidly) went all-in blind, Anthony also went all-in with pocket Queens and Mark called with Ace King, Dan looked dead and buried. That was until a 2 hit on the flop, followed by two 4's to complete a dramatic full-house!

ABOUT THE WOOLPACK

The Woolpack Huddersfield The Woolpack is set in the picturesque Yorkshire village of Almondbury, on the outskirts of Huddersfield. The building was part of the centre of Almondbury when it used to be a big market town (bigger than Huddersfield) and it still has the old timber beams that held it together. Over the years the Woolpack has developed into a typical village pub acting as the hub of the community. We now have a beautiful, and surprisingly big beer garden to the rear that is free from the noise of the street and home to some brilliant BBQ's. We also have a CCTV, floodlit car park with space for around 30 cars.

Whether its a nice cold pint of lager or a refreshing long drink we have a wide product range. We currently stock three very popular cask ales all locally brewed, which we are very proud of as we now carry the Cask marque accreditation. Also on draught we have three lagers, cider, two bitters and Guinness - of which we are accredited as the perfect pour. In the fridge we have a wide selection of wines ranging from a nice house wine to some quality Champagne for those special occasions. We also have a wide selection of very popular miniature wines that serve as a 187.5ml bottle. And don't forget all the spirits, soft drinks and crisps.

So why not call in some time for a quick drink. Or have a go at the pub quiz on Tuesday nights or poker on the first Wednesday of the month. Maybe you might want to see one of our live bands, or even book our function room for a meeting or party. Either way we would love to see you and you will be greeted with a friendly welcome and excellent service.
