This month saw 5 new players enter the Woolpack Poker School as 11 players battled it out for the pot. With so many players around the table there were always going to be lots of exciting hands as over half the deck would be getting dealt.
And it got off to a flyer in the first hand, Martin winning a big pot from Zac with his straight. Then entered Dan, his pocket kings caught Zac out again, and before he knew it, Zac was booking a taxi to town after being put all in by new boy Chris and losing.
Angie followed soon after with some very, lets say, different, play - it was almost a Goggles moment!
Now Dan, Martin and Chris all had decent looking pots but nobody saw Brian come flying out of the traps at the head of the table. All of a sudden his succession of 600 bets were scaring off everybody, and if they didn't he bet even bigger. Now with a mighty chip lead he began to boss, with only Peter taking the initiative to take him on. But this was something everybody will have wished they had done as Gerry and Chris whittled away, both going out in the same hand against Dan. Soon after followed by Mark who hadn't had anything all night. Next out was Martin who, after his early run couldn't hit anything more than a pork scratching. Then Dan made a bold (stupid) move, calling Joe's 4000 all-in with 5,3. It's his lucky hand but it cost him dearly. Now with Joe, Peter and Brian holding all the chips Dan and Anthony dropped out and a three-way battle at 500-1000 started.
It was the three best players from the night in the final, so any of them deserved to win, and in the end it was Peter, who rivered a straight against Brian to take the cash.
Poker Nights
The first Wednesday of every month is poker night in the Woolpack. We run a texas hold 'em poker tournament for upto 20 players in the function room where you could win up to £100. It starts at roughly 7.30pm and should be finished no later than 11.30pm, all it costs is £5 and the winner takes the full pot.
